Around 3 in 5 homes in our region have poor energy efficiency ratings (Citation: ONS). The combination of rising fuel poverty and the continuing high prices mean that many are simply unable to heat their homes. These conditions are affecting a wide range of people in the community from those who are living alone to entire familes who are struggling to stay warm.
As energy prices rise again in January 2024, we teamed up with YorkMix to provide warm items of clothing to help those in need stay warm at times when it is too hard to heat the home. The campaign ran for 6 weeks where we aimed to collect and distribute as much clothing as we can in the York/Selby/Malton region via suitable charity distribution points.
We were seeking anyone who is able to donate any of the following items (either used but in good condition or unwanted Christmas gifts) to either drop them off with us or drop them off at Asda at Monks Cross. Any size was accepted as we aimed to collect clothing for children and adults if possible.
- Gloves
- Jumpers
- Winter Hats
- Coats
- Thick Socks
- Thermal Clothing
- Cardigans
- Scarfs
- Mittens
The campaign closed off with a decent amount of clothing being collected and distributed.
Thank you for your generosity!
